What Wealthy Affiliate Can Offer You

I think it is as complete a package as you can get currently for foundational training to setting up an online business. Sure, it is not perfect (but what program is!) but the owners are constantly striving to make it better and better which I think makes it an exciting project to be a part of.

So what does it consist of?

Training

You can set the pace of how quickly or slowly you want to do this. So it can fit around your current work or other commitments which is great. I would say though that you don’t want to go too slow. It does require regular commitment and it will not generate money for you if start it and then only come back to it 3 weeks later, say.

There are two main courses: online entrepreneur certification course and the bootcamp course.

The Certification Course

This contains 50 lessons taking you through 5 main topics. The great thing is that you don’t have to have any prior knowledge of setting up a website. You will learn this as you go along. You are taken through step by step.

I think the hard part is deciding what your business is going to be about. Some of you may already have an idea about what this is going to be. That’s great. But if you have no idea, then that makes it harder. It is usually though going to be something that interests you.

It could be about anything you want: perhaps you are a dog lover (it could be a website all about dogs) or into outdoor pursuits (so it could be a website about camping and hiking). One important thing about choosing your subject matter or niche is that you have to be interested in it. As you will be writing a lot about it!

The training takes you through such topics as:

⇒setting up the website,

⇒how to write compelling content,

⇒adding images and You Tube videos

⇒and inserting affiliate links.

These affiliate links are what are going to bring in the revenue. Many companies (such as Amazon.com) provide these affiliate links. So if you advertise their products on your website and people buy these products having clicked through from your site, you make a commission.

Granted, this is not going to amount to much if you only get a few visitors to your site. However, the training will show you how to get ranked in Google, Bing and Yahoo so that you can build up large numbers of visitors to your site.

The Bootcamp Course

This goes through 7 phases with 70 lessons in total. This takes you through how to set up and build a website that promotes Wealthy Affiliate itself. Essentially, if you introduce people to the site through your affiliate link, you earn commissions.

I completed the certification course first as I wanted to know for myself that the system worked. And guess what? It does! So I have no qualms in promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

This course will also teach you other things that you did not learn in the certification course such as setting up and scaling PPC (pay per click) campaigns.

Other Training

If that wasn’t enough..there is more!

There is live training every Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning (dependent on where you live in the world!) provided by Jay. This usually lasts about 1 hour and covers a particular topic. This is great to consolidate what you have already learnt through the certification or bootcamp training.

But you also learn new topics such as You Tube marketing and dropshipping for example. If you can’t make the live training, it is recorded so you can watch it at any time you want after the live training session.

There is also training provided by other Wealthy Affiliate members. Some is more useful than others but if you search through you can usually find some real nuggets of information that can really help you out a lot.

Keyword Research Tool

In order to get ranked on search engines, a keyword research tool is essential. Wealthy Affiliate provides access to a great research tool called Jaaxy. This helps you to find what keywords people are searching for on the web and what the competition is like for those keywords. You can then narrow your search down to those keywords that are receiving traffic but with low competition.

The Community & Live Chat

The owners are keen to promote a ‘pay it forward’ culture on the site. Other members a bit further along or a lot further along and seasoned affiliate marketeers are on hand to help if you need assistance with any issue you might have with your site or the training. I might not be as seasoned as others but I will be very happy to help you out if you have any queries once you start out.

For example, when I had finished the certification course and wanted some feedback on my site, I sent a private message to a more experienced member. The same day he sent me a small video with his comments for free! Imagine that! You will find that there are a lot of members who are part of the platform remember what it was like starting out and are happy to help out.

Also, they are very inspiring when they share with the community their successes.

Website Creation

For premium members, there are simply thousands of website themes to choose from. You are simply spoilt for choice. Secure hosting is top notch too. I carried out an analysis of my website through a site audit tool and it gave my site an ‘A+’ for security.

I have a little grumble though about the ‘site content’ section. This is where you can write your posts. It is easy to use for putting in links and there is a large stock of images you can use in your sites. However, it does seem to play up when you start moving text around (especially if you have used bullet points).

Nevertheless, this is only a small grumble. I have learnt to work round this. I tend not to move text around now in site content and only do the real editing once it has been published. As once published, it can be edited in WordPress which is a lot more editing friendly.

Website Support

This is another feature of the platform which is very useful when you need it. So whenever there is a technical issue with your site, you can contact the support by e-mail any time of the day. Usually, they will respond to you promptly. On one occasion I couldn’t get Google Console to work (to track visitors to my site). I contacted support and they were able to find out the issue quickly.

That saved me valuable time trying to work it out myself.

Value for Money?

Is it value for money? Yes, absolutely! Wealthy Affiliate gives you all the tools you need to start a successful online business.

But I must qualify this answer. It is only value for money if you are going to use it. You must be committed to it and work at it consistently. If you start with good intentions and then leave it only to pick it up some months later, you are going to waste your money.

I just want to give you an honest heads up.

Who It Is Good For / Not Good For

It is good for:

Those who can follow the training consistently

Willing to learn (whatever their educational background)

Be patient for results (how quickly you will see results will generally depend on how much time and effort you put in)

It is not good for:

Those who are looking for a get rich quick scheme

Those who are not prepared to put in some effort

What Are You Waiting For?

  • This write-up appears to be a revision of what I have learnt do far. Wealthy Affiliate has been an amazing platform to be a part of. I went through all their trainings and am glad to say that I have completed most of the trainings. If you don’t mind, I want to ask a question. Does wealthy affiliate support the Google AdSense program? I don’t know if AdSense and affiliate marketing can be promoted on a blog hosted by Wealthy Affiliate platform. I will love to Know more about it.

    • Stella, thanks for your response. In answer to your question, you can promote Google AdSense on a blog hosted by Wealthy Affiliate. As a note of caution, however, I would not start applying for AdSense until you have a lot of traffic coming to your site. The reason for this is that you are not going to make much money that way and it will probably harm your rankings in Google when you first start out.

  • Hi James,

I’m impressed by your progress. In my mind completing both the Certification and Boot camp courses in a little over twelve months is quite an achievement.

I’ve been with W.A. six months now. Due to no experience in this industry I’ve found it quite challenging but I’m glad to say I feel like I’m starting to get some momentum happening.

By highlighting the differences between Starter and Premium memberships you refreshed and confirmed my decision to become a Premium at the outset of my joining W.A. and I’m glad you gave details of the Bootcamp course because you have inspired me to do the same when I finish the Certification course.

Thanks also for offering to mentor. As I progress I’m sure I’ll need one.

All the best for your future

    Regards

    Chris

    • Chris, thanks for your comment. I’m glad my review had the impact you described. If ever you have a query, let me know and I will see if I can help you out. Wealthy Affilate’s approach is very much one of ‘pay it forward’ , so you will not be short of people wiling to answer any query you may have as you progress.
